"Behold Our Sacrifice, Come After Us"

Beginning in June our Stake Presidency came to each ward to introduce a project to us as stake members. It was quite the task that they set before us to accomplish. The goal for this project was about Temple work and they talked about the Nauvoo temple and that 5,516 individuals recieved their endowement before going west. The Stake Presidency wanted us do that same thing to do the work for 5,516 people. So to begin we had to submit 7 family names to get the temple work done for and then either perform the work or have someone else if you couldn't go into the temple. They had quite the system set up for this it was an amazing experience to see such organization. Each ward had a ward coordinator who was the one in charge of each ward and the questions that they had and of course we have family history workers as well.

For our family I recieved names from my father to perform. The Stake Presidency got special permission from President Sorenson the temple president for the San Diego Temple to do this. We needed the temple to be open on all night for 3 weekends in September. So in order to do this all temple ordinance workers we the ones who needed to be their most of the time to help us members get the work done.

The process after getting the names was to start the baptisms. The Single Adults started us off in August and then we had in September the youth perform Baptisms as well. Then the endowed members were to schedule times during those middle of the nights to do the initatory work. We had alot of members come unannounced during those times because they didn't schedule and it slowed the process a little but it ended up working out.

Then they asked us to perform 7 endowements before October 24th and then on that day we had to schedule 4 endowement sessions that day and into the night time as well. The temple was open for 24 hours on that day just for us. However we were unable to participate in San Diego because of our trip to Utah but that didn't stop us. Trent and I went to the Odgen and Provo temples to do our work.

My grandparents were able to go the temple with Trent and I. It was a wonderful experience and I will cherish that forever. I loved to see them in white and know that I will be with them forever. They are getting very old and a little weak and I know the time is short so I take advantage of them when I come into town. It was a memory I will never forget being in the temple with them.
