Week One of Swim Lessons

Monday
Today we started swimming lessons at Murray Callen Swim School. The great thing about it is our swim instructor is Bianca Marshall who is in our ward and is in the Nursery. So the girls already know who she is.

We go for 3 weeks MWF for 1/2 hour and they each take turns in the 93 degree water. The school utilizes a soft-touch technique, developed by Murray Callan, it is based on a non-force, no-fear method. The pool has a lot of shallow water and are custom-designed strictly for teaching swimming and that's all they are used for. The pool has broad, shallow steps, all the way up to just a few inches in depth so anyone, at any age, can seek their own security level by getting their feet on the bottom.

Its facinating to watch the other children around us swimming at all levels and ages. I am excited to see the girls process. The girls went into the water and began getting comfortable in the warm water and Bianca just did little things to get them used to the water.

Wednesday
Paetan had a little bit of tension today and wanted to get out of the pool each time her turn was over and run over to Dad. She was having a difficult time trying to get used to the idea of being in the water. Reeghan on the other hand was doing well. I was actually more nervous about Reeghan than I was Paetan so it was kind of unusual. Reeghan listens to Bianca very well and they were blowing bubbles and putting their ears in the water and up to their nose.

Friday
Today was a great lesson both of the girls were participating very well and after Paetan's turn she would stay in the pool and wait her turn by blowing bubbles. She was having fun playing Peek a Boo with Bianca too. Reeghan went under water today 3 times. She didn't tense up when she went under so that was good. Paetan also went under about 2 times.
