General Relief Society Broadcast

I just wanted to share with you some thoughts about the Relief Society broadcast that happened this last Saturday:

The opening song was "Count your Many Blessings" and I encourage you to go read over the words and be sure to know that no matter where life takes us or the trials we go through if we count what we are grateful for then angels will attend us and be by our side through the tough moments.

Sister Beck
We were encouraged to study our Relief Society heritage and learn about the sisters in years past so we know what to do. It will help us change and understand who we are.

As visiting teachers we are teaching and watching over eachother.

We need to increase in dignity and the R.S. sisters are always the 1st, last and always there to help and serve.

If we utilize the Holy Ghost we will receive inspiration for the responsibilities in which we are apart of

We need to set goals for ourselves and we don't need to be applauded for our efforts we just do it secretly.

Sister Allred
The question that she asks alot of members of the church is:
What helps you keep fast and immovable through trials?
1.) acknowledge Heavenly Father
2.) hope through Jesus Christ
3.) knowledge of the plan of redemption

We have divine attributes so how do we strengthen ourselves?
1.) prayer
2.) scriptures
3.) obedience
4.) service

These things are easy to apply if we just put forth effort

Sister Thompson
Some have compassion and those are the ones who make the difference.

Compassion means love and mercy towards one another. Comfort those who stand in need.

Prayerfully consider each sister you visit teach. The beauty of V.T. is not to get 100% on paper its the other side of it that counts. Its the acts you do and it will never be DONE!

We need to bring them the enrichment that they need personally and at times you just need to listen.

Look at it like a blessing not a burden.

Truly seek to love when its the sisters who are the ones are tough to visit.

These sisters have been entrusted to your care.

"More Holiness Give Me" hymn - I've learned that I can do more!

Pres. Monson
Sisters are always a splendid sight to behold.

He opened with a story about a husband and wife who recently moved into a new place and their neighbor always hung her wash out to dry and the wife mentioned every morning to her husband that the neighbors wash doesn't get clean. This went on for a couple of times until one morning the wife looks out the window and sees it clean for once. She quickly told her husband who then proceeded to tell the wife that earlier that morning he got up and washed the window.

How do we view each other? Do we make judgments to soon?

He talked of Mother Teresa and quoted this from her:

"If you judge people you don't have time to love"
