Master Bedroom

I rearranged some pictures in my bedroom for my newest addition that I found while in Utah at my new favorite store that just so happens to only be in Utah, Tai Pan Trading Company! If you live there and have been you know that that is a place I would definately fall in love with. Its right up my alley! For those of you who haven't, well can I just say you just might have to take a trip to the place because I think its well worth it. The closest one to me is St. George.
I happen to be going to St George in Febrary for the annual Parade of Homes show. By the way if any of you haven't been or want to go let me know! Check out their webstite http://www.paradehome.com/ I will be going on the 14th thru the 18th. So I might as well take a trip to Tai Pan as well. I love to go to places like this.
So back to my room! I found these wonderful already framed and with art in them for $17 each. Its got the hint of blue that I have going in my bedroom already and I was pretty excited to see them. I orginally bought 2 but I had my mother-in-law, Kelly, pick me up 2 more while she was in Utah visiting this past week. So now I have the sets mirroring eachother in my bedroom on opposite walls. I love them! Great find!

Updated Office Space

I have been working on trying to finish up my office/craft space. I found a steal of a deal on this armoire that I repainted on Craigslist for $40! In the beginning it was teal and a magenta color. It looked aweful but I saw some potential and I made it work! Its a perfect space for all the big bulky printers and machines that Trent passed on to me from his office. I am thrilled with the end result. Now all I have to do is find something to put in the middle of my room so it doesn't look bare.

Temp Power and Water

We are one step away from our final inspection. The fire department came and signed off on their inspection so we were able to get water and temporary power. So I was able to go around the house and label all of my light switches so that I know which ones are which. So it was a good day!

A great help!

My good friend, Chris Stokes came into town from Rexburg, ID. She is amazing and she has such a wonderful gift that I like to take advantage of and that is her creativity! She was able to spend about a total of 5 days with me helping me with projects, sewing and designing! It was so much fun! If I could have just a snippit of her imagination I would be okay! I told her that she needs to start charging people for consultations because she is so good at what she does.

A Fun Filled Week of Moving In and Organizing

Family Entertainment Wall Drawers

Laundry Room

Girls Closet

Girls Bathroom Drawers that have their underwear and Pjs

We don't have final yet on our house but I decided to move right in and make myself at home. I began on August 25th for about 2 hours in the early morning and moved in all of my kitchen stuff into drawers and the pantry. I got all of it done that day. Then headed off to the temple to do my service there.

Monday thru Friday I worked on moving all the boxes out of the garage into the house. I finished all but the office and the master bedroom due to the furniture not being painted. We are also waiting on our closet to be built as well.

The painter came and worked on all my office furniture and a couple of other items I wanted him to paint. So I made sure I cleared out the garage for him to use. I then got my label maker out and organized the linen closet, toy room, laundry room, and family entertainment wall. I love my label maker. It makes such a difference to me to see that I have a home for all my things. Plus it makes me feel organized because just about everything is labeled.

Driveway

Our driveway was poured today and it looks fantastic. We did a stamped concrete design and the colors match up beautifully with the exterior even though the stucco color didn't turn out the way that I wanted it to.

Appliances

Our appliances were delivered but have been sitting in our kitchen for about 2 weeks waiting for he electrician to install them. We had quite the deal about the vent and some confusion as to how they were going to install it but they figured it out.

I am excited about them they cost us some money but we know that in the long run they will be a high selling point once we decide to want to build another house again! I am excited to learn to cook with my convection oven and use the range. I can rise bread in 20 minutes! So watch out you might be seeing some fresh bread at your doorstep!

A Week full of Work

Entertainment Wall
Guest house Kitchenette
Master Bathroom Vanity
Granite Countertop

Our home has been sitting for about 4 weeks waiting for Eldon to return. He did come back and finish up his work. Then we got measured for carpet and it was installed by the end of the week. Our plumbers also came and set the tub, toliets and sinks.

Our countertop guy is Felipe and its a good friend of Trent's and he did granite in the kitchen and then we went with a stone slab for all the bathroom countertops. They turned out really nice I was real impressed with the color choice especially the granite. I saw it in another home and I was orignially going with Kyle and Amy's choice but I changed last minute and I am glad I did.

Dave Johnson then came by and we layed out our concrete for the house and they poured our back patio and its very nice and its stamped as well. We are going to do that throughout the yard and into the courtyard and on the driveway.

Finally Bob our finish guy came and installed the bath accessories and then the mirrored closet doors for the 2 bedrooms.

It was great week driving by and seeing 5 cars lined up by my house. Its a great feeling knowing your home is progressing!

Cabinets

It took some time for the cabinets to come from Utah. Eldon is from Utah and told me that he would make it down the middle of May but w e waited an additional 5 weeks to get them installed. Then the stain wasn't what I had anticipated it to be, it was much lighter.

My parents came out that same weekend so they were able to see a few things done. I was too chicken to tell Eldon that the stain wasn't what I thought so my mother did for me. But what can he do? I really didn't want him to restain it all because that would take another 2 months to get that done at Eldon's rate of time.

Honestly as time has passed they have grown on me. I think I will be alright with them the way they are. Cabinets have really been our hold up and will be I am afraid until we are finished. Eldon had to leave early because his warehouse was getting moved to a new location. So we have to wait a little longer. He got the majority of the cabinets installed but put some beadboard up above the hood in the kitchen and it looked awful so he will have to change that one.

I don't mean to complain alot about Eldon's time because he does some great work but he should find better ways to communicate with others honestly about his time frame.

Hardwood Floor

Office area

Family Room

Up close
Powder Room

We had a someone install our hardwood floor for us because we had alot to do and also Trent didn't want to do it especially with our bull nosed corners. So here is the end result and I am very happy with my decision to go with this piece instead of my original one. I got the floor at simplefloors.com. They were really nice to work with. I would recommend them to anyone.

Stone on Exterior

The house has been sitting on the inside for about 3 weeks with nothing happening but on the outside they were able to start the stone work and it took them about 1 week to do just a little part of the house because they weren't their full-time

Stucco color on the exterior

The color on the house was not anything that was close to what we wanted. We were looking for a mustard yellow hint to the house but we got a slight pinkish white instead. From far away you can see a little pink but once you get up close its not that bad at all.

Once we fog the color once more we can have a darker tone put on it to make it look a little dark instead of so white.
