San Felipe, Mexico

Our corner beach house lot is right next to the one on the left

Trent took me away for our 5th Wedding Anniversary and didn't tell me where we were going! He said that I had already picked where we were going about a month ago. So I was a little excited to see where and what I picked. A month ago Trent had me look at 2 homes in San Felipe, Mexico and said that a client was going there to see the lots that he has for sell down there. So I picked it and that happened to be the home we stayed in for 2 nights.

We left early Thursday morning the day of our anniversary and headed off to the temple first to do 2 endowement sessions for our temple project. We got onto the freeway and the battery light in Trent's cobra came on. We drove towards an auto parts store and the car stalled at an intersection so Trent pushed it off to the side of the road and we walked the remaining 1.5 miles to the store which was not open yet. So we sat at McDonald's for about 45 min until it opened and got the 60lb battery. Luckily we were buy a shopping center so we found a empty shopping cart to push it 3/4 of the way and Trent carried it the rest of the way to the car. We put it in and the light didn't go off but the car started and we drove back to the auto parts store and had them check his alternator and the guy said that it would only last about another hour. So to make a long story short we didn't end up going to the temple! We drove back to our house and got the Expedition and headed on down the road.

We got to San Felipe and just relaxed all night long we didn't want to really go into town because of our long day of car problems with a 4 hour drive. So we read books just chilled out in the house we rented.

Friday morning we got up and headed to town to check out Trent's lots and stoped at the ReMax Real Estate office and met Carlos who ended up driving us around San Felipe's new developments for about 3 hours. It was really fun to get some insight about this growing gringo area of Mexico. He took us to Santa Catalina Development and we feel in love with it and especailly the price and we ended up putting a deposit down for a beach house. The thing is that we have to pay cash for it so we will start building it in January! We are really excited and we as a couple that night sat down and wrote out our goals and watched "The Secret" and had a night of fun with ideas for the future for us as a family financially.

Saturday we were getting a little homesick for our children but we lasted until 2pm. We met up with Carlos to sign papers and then went to the lot and took more pictures. We then went to the El Dorado Ranch swiming pool and they were having a water volleyball tournament and so it was a little crowded so we only stayed about a hour and then decided to go back home to be with our girls.
I was really impressed with Trent and I am grateful that he planned this wonderful weekend! I highly suggest to all couples to get away without children its a great time to reconnect and look at your lives together and plan!
