Mormon Helping Hands Project

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints members throughout the state of California participated in a statewide service project. Each stake (represents a certain area) comes up with a service project to do in their community for about 300 people to participate in.

The Carlsbad Stake went to the Oceanside Harbor to do a beach cleanup. We arrived at 8am and grabbed trash bags with gloves and put on our "yellow" Mormon helping hands vests and away we went. The girls were great and they participated for a hour and half without complaining. Then, as we were leaving the beach, they started to complain just a little, but overall I was impressed with their attitude about the whole project.

Beforehand, Trent and I prepped them about what we would be doing and so that helped. They get the bigger picture of why we serve and how it makes them feel. Throughout the day the girls were noticing trash around them and putting it into the trash cans. I just hope it still continues in our home because I find a lot of empty gogurt tubes and otter pop's lying around. : )
