Sunday Goodness

Our Sunday went a little like this....

Kids woke us up, as usual on Sunday because Trent and I stay up too late on Saturday's and we love to sleep in on the weekends.

Trent walked into the girls room and they were already helping each other zip up their dresses and getting ready for church and Reeghan says to Trent, "we are getting dressed without your permission" or in other words, we are doing it without you telling us to.

The girls and I got the Friend magazine out and we read a story about modesty. I've taught this to them ever since they were babies and have made sure that I didn't veer from it. I've bought them a lot of adorable sleeveless dresses but the girls would add, "Now which color shrug do we need to wear with that one?"

Easton has had a continuous snot nose for 3 weeks now! What is it with boys and their noses? I figure that it's something to do with his ear infections. I'm not even sure if Easton currently has one, because he doesn't complain. So he stayed home from church so as not to spread the snot to other kids.

In Sacrament meeting our Stake Presidency taught us and warned us about the issue of Pornography and gave us extensive details about the dangers and statistics of this problem even within the church. The average age that a young man sees his first pornographic image is 11! Wow! I had heard this before but it is scary to think my kids will be dealing with this in the near future.

The one thing I took away from their message was to just fill our lives with good. That is why we go to church for 3 hours, attend the temple as often as we can, read scriptures, pray together as a family, go to seminary (when in high school, have our weekly family home evening, etc. We keep ourselves from being influenced by the wills of Satan and his evil designs if we are too busy filling our lives with good.

Yaun came to church today and that just made my day! He is a member of my primary class and I have been great friends with his mom since we moved into the ward and she was assigned my visiting teacher. But since Christmas I hadn't seen her or Yaun at church. I got called in January as his primary teacher. The kids were so excited to see him and I just watched them all talk with him and it was such a joy to see. We sang Happy Birthday to him as well.

After Trent made us lunch, he sat down to relax with his phone and started playing a game on it and the girls immediately ran over and told him that he wasn't keeping the sabbath day holy. Because on our way to church this morning we passed the baseball fields and the girls mentioned that they weren't obeying the sabbath either. So Paetan proceeds to tell Trent that he wasn't obeying the church! It was so true and literal that as parents we need to be careful because their eyes see everything and their ears hear it all.
