Marathon Training Log

January
16 - 1.2 miles - 15 min - Shadowridge Trail - My lungs were pretty weak but I am optomisitic! Baby steps!
17 - 2.7 miles - 35 min - Discovery Creek and Pond - I have been having a side ache so this day I walked about half.
18 - Brisk walk about 1 mile
21 - 3 miles - 50 min - Carlsbad Boardwalk - It was such a beautiful day and I ran along the beach with tons of other people which is very motivating. I ran about 3/4 of the total 3 miles so I am making some progress. I am going to do this run every Saturday.
23-25 Days off
26 - 2.7 miles - Shadowridge Drive
28 - 3 miles - LaJolla Cove with Kristie
Febuary
2 - 2.5 miles - Borden, Woodland, to Richland I actually ran all the way this time withou stopping
3 - 2.5 miles - Richland, Woodland, Borden I went the opposite direction and it was a lot harder but I stick it out
4 - 4 miles -44 min Carlsbad boardwalk with Kristie we ran it in 11.30 minute mile! Wow it felt awesome and I did have a side ache the whole time and I still stick it out.
7 - 2 miles -30 min - This run I felt confident and I ran down Borden to Mulberry and hit a wall going down and then I had to treck up a hill that I wasn't mentally prepared for. Not a great run but I need to continue with my 4 milers.
11 - 4 miles - 45 min - Carlsbad boardwalk with Kristie. We did it again and pushed ourselves the last 500 ft or so and Kristie beat me.
13 - 2 miles - 20 min - Around the area of my house because Leslie was in town and I needed to fit in a run sometime. That will be the only and last time I run around my house. It was so creepy even during the day time.
16 - 4.3 miles - 48 min - Carlsbad boardwalk we went on a Thursday this time because I was leaving for St George that night. We went a little bit longer this go around its crunch time for our 10K so we are trying to build up.
18 - 3.6 miles - 45 min - Coral Canyon development where Ryan and Susan live. It was actually a great run this day and it was about 40 degrees outside and I didn't have any side ache at all. It was awesome! I ran up 2 hills so I didn't run the whole 4 miles.
20 - 3.6 miles - 43 min - Coral Canyon the same route I did on the 18th. I feel much better running in the cold weather its kind of funny!
23 - I played my church basketball game today and counted that as my run. I have been slacking this week.
25 - 4 miles - 40 min - Carlsbad boardwalk - We finally ran a 10 min mile!! We have 2 weeks left until our 10K in San Diego. Today I felt great the whole run and keep a consistent pace with no side ache.
March
2 - Once again I slacked off a little bit and today I played my church ball game and counted that.
3 - 5 miles - 60 min - Carlsbad boardwalk - Kristie and I pushed it and hit a little wall between 4 and 4.5 miles but we finished with a 12 min mile. I have one week until the 10K race. I am excited about it!
6 - 3.2 miles - 30 min - Santa Fe Hills - I ran up and down Los Posas Road in Santa Fe Hills area and saw April Bennett running as well. I knew I was bound to see someone I knew.
9 - 2.5 miles - 23 min - Santa Fe Hills again
11 - I ran my first ever 10K race down at Mission Bay Park around Fiesta Island. It was raining pretty heavily before it started but just sprinkled while we ran. Kristie and I ran it together and it was a very fun experience. At the end the last leg I just started to sprint and I ran probably the fastest I have ever ran. I was amazed at what my legs were doing. It felt awesome! So we finished it in 1 hour 5 min. We had free T-shirts, pizza and oranges afterward. Well worth the time to run in races because all the runners encourage one another its great!
Here is my results I came in 623rd place

16 - Played in 2 baketball games
17 - 4 miles - 42 min - Carlsbad boardwalk - It was pretty tough day for me the last 1 mile I hit a wall and my knees were giving me trouble. Last night I got home from my basketball games and the balls of my feet were all red. I have never had a blister before and I think this may be my first but it hasn't really shown itself yet so maybe it won't happen but during my run this morning it was very irritating.
20 - 3 miles - 32 min - Shadow Ridge sidewalk - I thought I had marked out the mileage because I have ran this one before but I was off a half mile. So I felt like I was running on air today and the last little bit I picked up my pace to an almost sprint. It felt so good!
21 - 5 miles - 55 min - Escondido Country Club - Started at the church after Trent's seminary class was over and did a kid swap and headed out along Country Club Lane towards Broadway in Escondido. My knees where a big bother today I definately could have gone another mile.
22 - Went to the chiropractor about my knee
23 - 2 miles - Borden Road - Knee was getting to me again
25 - 4 miles - 43 min - Carlsbad boardwalk. My knee felt great today no bother
27 - 4 miles - 45 min - Escondido Country Club this time I felt it in both knees with 1 mile to go
April
17 - 3.5 miles - 35 min - Shadowridge - I just bought me some new shoes and I waited almost 3 weeks to go buy them so I didn't train at all during that time. I really felt it though today. My knee began to bother me so I decided to pick up my pace to an almost sprint and it didn't hurt the last .5 mile I sprinted. It was kind of odd. I am really frustrated though that I bought these shoes hoping that the knee problem would go away but thats not the case.
18-28 - Gone to Utah for vacation and took a running vacation as well.
May
3 - 1.5 mile - Oceanside Harbor Drive - I started back up again and found myself with the worst side aches of all time. I am kicking myself now that I haven't been consisent.
8 - I got into the St George Marathon and made hotel arrangements so its for real now no slacking!
10 - 3 miles - 30 min - El Norte to Rose Springs to Richland back to the church. I decided that I need to go with Trent each morning to Seminary so that I can run while he teaches. Too bad Seminary ends in 2.5 weeks!
