Thursday morning we headed on a road trip to Arizona! This was Easton's 1st trip away from home and he was wonderful! He enjoyed his Baby Einstein videos on the way down. He just started to almost sleep through the night and has just changed a whole lot.
We drove to Pheonix, Scottsdale area and met up with Trent's business buddy, Aaron at Infusionsoft and went out to lunch with him. That afternoon we shopped around in the area and went to a couple of malls and outlets. Trent wanted to go shopping and this desire to go shopping only happens once a year so I have to make sure it happens and that we are both satisfied with our purchases. We had a good time but you could tell that he was getting through after like the 3rd store but he knew it had to get done so he continued on.That night we stayed in Scottsdale at a very hip and modern hotel called Hotel Indigo in the heart of Scottsdale which happened to be surrounded by alot of night clubs. So the night life was happening but we left the area and went up north to have dinner at Ruth's Chris steakhouse with another one of Trent's business buddies, Anthony and his girlfriend. We enjoyed our night stuffing ourselves with 3 different kinds of meats and side dishes and then topped off our meal with the oh so famous, Sweet Potatoes! Yum Yum that was like a dessert.
Friday morning we woke up and went to Mesa to the temple where Trent's cousin, Julie, was to be married! I was so suprised at how big the actual temple lot was. It was a gorgeous but very hot day and the sealing was wonderful and very short.
That afternoon we went back to Scottsdale to the famous mall thats there which has all the high end stores that we just like to browse in and not buy. We did however make it to Hollister and found some great finds for Trent. We found 3 outfits all on sale.
The reception was held in Tucson which is about a 2 hr drive south of Scottsdale so we started off and happened to find an outlet mall on the way down so we stopped there for about 1.5hrs. Its kind of nice to just stop and be in no hurry to drive somewhere especially with only one child instead of three!
That night was so much fun at the reception I got to put on my dancing shoes which hadn't been out for quite some time! Trent's cousin, ZJ is married to a fun spunky girl, Leslie, who LOVES to dance just like I do and the two of us just had a good time. I think we were actually videoed that night I would be curious to see how that looked. We even got Trent's Aunts out onto the dance floor which was hilarious getting the three of them together!
We stayed in Tucson about 20 miles away from his Aunt's house which we weren't aware that it was that far away. On Saturday we slept in and just enjoyed our morning at the hotel we stayed at and that afternoon continued shopping the last leg of the trip getting a few items. Then headed back to his Aunt's house with the cousins and their kids and just hung out at the house until the RS broadcast and all of us girls went together to dinner beforehand and then to the church to watch.
The broadcast was wonderful and I had a moment where I just looked around at all the sisters around me which I only knew 8 of them and the others I had no idea who they were but I still felt connected and loved! I love that about our Relief Society program in our church no matter where you are or who you are we are still sisters in the gospel with a purpose to further the kingdom here on earth as daughters of God. Thats a wonderful blessing and I feel so blessed to be able to be apart of it.
Trent and I had alot of discussions along our driving route and a sudden realization occured to me while we were driving in the middle of nowhere in the desert. I am so blessed to be able to live in this county and then to be born to my family and to also be born into the gospel of Jesus Christ! Three wonderful blessings in my life and now to pass them onto my children is even greater!
Saturday night I went into the secret room that his Aunt and Uncle kept from me all day long and I could have easily spent the whole day in that room. His Uncle buys and sells stones and beads but mainly specializes in tourquoise. I walked in and their were bins and bins of strung beads and stones! Was I in jewelry heaven! YES! I wish they showed me sooner I only had like 2 hours before we had to leave so I rumaged through what I thought I could use and I ended up looking at my pile and noticed alot of browns, greens, whites, neutrals or earthy tones. I didn't get anything bright or vibrate for my wardrobe! Oh well next time and their will be a next time!
Thank you Teresa and Zeno!
Sunday we went to the nearest church building by our hotel and it just so happened to be a spanish branch. At the begining of the meeting their were 3 confirmations and then the sacrament and then 2 talks. It was just wonderful to sit in and look at these spanish speaking members and to feel their spirit because that is all I could do. I tried to sing in spanish but it didn't go too well. I had a neat experience only for that hour to feel the spirit and feel loved by my savior.
Overall my trip to Arizona was fun and hot and its a nice place to visit but I don't think I could live there. I have been spoiled already living here in San Marcos and San Diego area I couldn't think about going to the desert, sorry Arizonians!
