Each morning tends to be the same around here. The children wake up around 6am and eat then we slowly get around to leaving the house around 10 or 11. But today we had a opportunity to go to the church building we attended last Sunday because they were doing a chapel cleanup. We figured that this would be a good service opportunity for our families. Our family goal is to find a service for us to do each time we go out to travel. This one just happened upon us so we invited ourselves which the ward was grateful that we did because we were half of the people that showed up to clean.
The children got to only clean up the windows and some sweep the floors but then they seemed to find their way to the nursery room to play. I got to dust mop the gym floor and found some interesting dead critters! We have seen our share of roaches around this area. Then we mopped up the floor and by that time they were finished. The ward members are so great here and very appreciative of our service and taking the time out of our vacation to do service for their building.
Afterwards we packed up for the day at the beach and by this time it had been raining all morning and thought it would let up by the time we got done doing our service but it didn't. Sean and Allie headed up to Waimea Falls while the rest of us stopped at the swap meet to finish purchasing our last minute gifts before we are to head back home. It was still raining at the stadium and I wanted to find the girls the famous brown hawaiian sandels and I walked and walked in the rain and was dreached but luckily it was warm rain so I endured it.
Sean and Allie called to say that the waves were huge up there and too close to the shore for the kids to play in so they decided to change beach locations and go back to Ko Olina. Which I am grateful that we did. I love that beach because it is so kid and adult friendly. We sat on the grassy area next to the showers and the bathrooms. I actually got in the ocean water today! It was so much fun Trent and I went out together and just enjoyed ourselves in the nice warm beautiful water. Ko Olina wasn't rainy at all while we were there. It was a perfect day.
Ryan and Susan rented a kayak for an hour and took all the kids out on it. I didn't want to get on because I was already dry at this point and didn't want to get wet again so they took Reeghan and Paetan out for us.
This whole trip has been all about beaches instead of tourist spots for us because we want to relax but also for the children's sake. Next trip will just be us as a couple so that we can go out and do more adventurous things.
